Hey Everyone,

Here are the minutes. Enjoy!

Kacy Wothe
GAC Dems Secretary

In Attendance: Kacy Wothe, Former President (Eric' Ex) Allan A.
Johnson, Galen Mitchell (Eric's current), Daniel Jackson, Laura
Groenjes, Matt Pollari, Drew Yackel-Juleen, Steven Palmer, Peter
Grafstrom, Lisa Hughes, Jacob Seamans, Alex Knetson, Danielle Harms,
Andy Winn

I. Zeta's were officially "pimped" by Kierra
-Zeta's are having an info meeting at 6:30 in the D-Center
tomorrow evening.
-They are looking for women leaders at GAC
-They have awesome pillars (I can't really remember them all,
but Democracy was one....weeeeeoooo!)

II. In pre-meeting, Galen was talking about kicking Jake's butt for
losing the T-shirt design. Now that it was time to actually do this,
he instead
re-metaphorically-kicked-his-butt-but-not-really-cause-Galen-is-scared-but-Allan-isn't-so-he-will. In reality, nothing happened. But, Jake is going to email the t-shirt company to get a
template.

III. Also in pre-meeting, we were talking about Eric's impeachment.
It was tabled to the end of the meeting, time allowing.

IV. Jake met with Carla from the Republicans to straighten out some
finance issues.
-There were some extra charges to the caf from Election Day, but
it's now figured out.
-We have enought left for 3 P&P's

V. Banner
-We have $30 left for "printing services" which we hope can be
used in "media services"
-The design will be similar to the t-shirts (with Galen's donkey)
-Allan suggested 3 crowns. It was shot down. Big time.

VI. Executive Board Meeting with the Republicans
      -Paint Ball wars
-Galen shouldn't tip his chair so far back, cause Allan may push
him down to gain the position of interim co-president
-co-sponsor P&P during Diversity Week (topic possibly
immigration, not "something nation", but they do rhyme)
      -Student Bill of Rights
-We all agreed writing one separately of the Republicans is a bad idea
-The role of the Dems in this is to ensure student freedoms
while not putting too much down on paper.
-Alex reminded us of the serious implications that come along
with this document. It will affect students for years to come, so we
should be cautious about what we are willing to say, or even if we
should support this.
-Student Senate, however, is insisting that campus
organizations work on this. It may be done regardless of our support,
so it is probably best that we at least offer input and balance.
-If you have any ideas, comments, suggestions, reservations,
etc. get in touch with one of the GAC Dems executive board members
(Galen, Eric, Justin, Matt, Danielle, Jake, or me...I'm sorry if I
forgot anyone).
-The executive board will be meeting with the Executive Board
of the College Republicans next Wednesday to start drafting this
document.

VII. Pizza and Politics Tuesday March 20th at 6:00 in Confer 127/8
-The topic is "Sex and Politics"
-It can be as local as the possibility of the college
eliminating the free access to condoms, or as nationally as sex-ed in
public schools, the distribution of contraceptives, etc.
-Lisa will organize everything. Anyone who wants to help make
posters can meet this Friday at 3:00 in the Den.

VIII. Demfest
-Ruth Johnson is helping us got us contacts to Walz and Franken.
-She also suggested getting local bloggers and Tom Martins so we
can have some non-politicians.
-We will be making contact with these and others soon.
-The Burton Dinner Festivities start around 5:00
      -Fun Stuff
-We want to kind of go with a summer fun theme, so for food,
we want to grill hot dogs (kosher), cut some fruit, I'm still looking
into Donkey cookies, and sno-cones.
-Rootbeer kegs and a possible rootbeer pong tournament
-Outdoor games such as bochee ball, croquet, friz-nok,
Dingle-berries, washerboards, horseshoes, etc....
-Since it's Cinco de Mayo, maybe we should have a pinata
(shaped like an elephant, with a stick with a donkey face???)
     -Bands
         -Eric did jack
-We only need two or three
-Perhaps Chris Bacon or Gus Leven Band (sp??)
         -Jake's full of shit.

Next meeting, we will be talking about Election Day binders, cause we
had a small group meet to discuss them, but we ran out of time to
bring our ideas to the full group. ps....thanks for showing up guys
